The damage calculator turns a matchup into a decision: can this attack secure a KO, can this Pokemon survive a key hit, and which item or EV change makes the line reliable. The calculation area is kept together so ads and extra reading do not interrupt attacker, defender, move, modifier, and result controls.

Data source and calculation logic

The page uses the local Pokemon and move datasets, then applies Lv.50 battle assumptions with selected stats, nature, item, weather, terrain, screens, stat stages, burn, critical hit, same-type attack bonus, type effectiveness, and doubles spread-move context where available. Results should be read as a range, not a single fixed number, because standard Pokemon damage includes random variation.

How to use it

  • Select the attacker and defender before choosing the move, so the move list and type matchup match the actual scenario.
  • Set nature, ability, item, EVs, stat stages, weather, terrain, screens, burn, and critical hit only when they are part of the board state you are testing.
  • Read the minimum roll when you need a guaranteed KO or guaranteed survival.
  • Read the full range when you are deciding whether chip damage, weather, recoil, or partner pressure makes the plan stable.
  • Repeat the check from the defender's side when the same turn may become a trade.

Practical applications

For KO lines, compare the minimum damage with the defender's HP. If the minimum roll falls short, consider more attacking EVs, a stronger item, a different move, helping support, prior chip damage, or a safer double target. For bulk lines, increase HP or the relevant defense until the maximum damage stays below your survival target. This is how you decide whether an item should be damage-boosting, defensive, speed-focused, or utility-based.

Example: if a special attacker only has a chance to KO a common bulky target, a damage item may turn an uncertain roll into a practical plan. If your support Pokemon survives a key physical hit only with defensive investment, that spread may be more valuable than extra Speed. If a spread move looks weak in doubles, test the single-target alternative before assuming the Pokemon lacks damage.

  • Reading the maximum roll as a guaranteed KO.
